how is a person to know if the side effect is from the meds or what they had to begin with

i have been taking this medication nearly seven years. i never thought the irritating itching i’ve experience for 4-5 years could be from it but since experiencing full-on hives the past four months, i do. my entire body has experienced down-to-the-bone pain the past two years, as well as extreme fatigue. my ankles began swelling a few months ago but i attributed this to the summer weather.
a friend thought maybe my blood pressure medication could be causing the above symptoms. i now believe she is correct. it’s time to take action and get off of this drug. my body hurts 24/7 and i feel as if i’m in my 80′s. i am middle-aged.
if you feel you have one side effect from diltiazem, don’t hesitate to see a physician like i have done. my internest retired a several years ago, leaving me w/o someone w/ whom i could consult. i have an appt. w/ a new cardiologist in 10 days. :) fingers crossed that i’ll soon be feeling better.
